Day 3: Today was the world-famous Pingxi Lantern Festival. It wasn’t until nightfall, but getting there involved leaving our place by 10am, taking the subway to a shuttle, and going on an hour-long ride along mountain roads to Pingxi. We arrived after noon. Those not far behind us didn’t get lanterns for the 7pm launch.
With time to kill, we grabbed sustenance in the form of various meat products on sticks, and hiked to a nearby waterfall.
Anything I could write about the Lantern Festival would be an understatement. We took our place on the bridge with our lantern and a couple thousand other people, wrote our wishes for the coming year, and when it got dark, attendants made their way through the crowd lighting the lanterns. And at the right moment away they went, 1000 lanterns into the night sky.
I put together some of the footage from our cameras…
As I’ve told you: everyone is loving the video you made. And commenting on how perfect the music is.
Yeah, I love that song, and the band: It’s “Sleep” from Azure Ray (name of the band and the album). The music really captured the feeling of being there.
Aurora and I love watching this video over and over!
