Happy Year of the Snake!

Chinese New Year fireworks, Hong Kong

I can’t begin to say what an incredible year it’s been. The Year of the Dragon’s over, and I don’t think I’ll ever experience another like it.

I’ve been living in China for a year now, and things are starting to wind down. I spent New Year’s in Hong Kong—not by design, but that’s how things turned out. As a result, I got to see the Chinese New Year parade here Saturday night and fireworks last night.

In a couple of hours I’m headed to Beijing, before returning to Dali for my last months in China.

I took this video last night at the Chinese New Year fireworks show. I’ll write more about my final trip to Hong Kong (and Taiwan!) later, but I thought I’d better post this video now before returning behind the Red Curtain, aka the Great Firewall, where a 10-minute video takes two years to upload.

Happy Year of the Snake!
