If 15,000 pig carcasses in the Huangpu River “meets the national sanitation standards for drinking water,” is it still kosher?
Earlier this month, workers began fishing hundreds of dead pigs out of the Huangpu river. This raised safety concerns about the river that supplies over 30% of Shanghai’s water. Authorities conducted tests and concluded there’s no problem with the water.

Shang-hostellers
I’m a big believer in hostels. I stayed in them across Europe. I worked at the biggest one in Los Angeles when I first moved to Santa Monica, and I returned to volunteer years later—creating and leading a free weekly

Nanjing Pedestrian Road
My first night in Shanghai I discovered the joys of Nanjing Pedestrian Road—imagine Fifth Avenue meets the 3rd Street Promenade. It’s a great place to people watch if you don’t mind getting harassed by the “Watch/Bag People”. The “Watch/Bag People”
